A study was done in<br />
the early 2000&#8242;s by the <a href="http://www.nichd.nih.gov/news/releases/holidayweightgain.cfm" target="_blank">National Institutes of Health</a> that determined<br />
just that. They determined the following things about Americans:</span></span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: small;">The average American gained 1.8 lbs from <strong>Thanksgiving to New Year&#8217;s Day</strong>.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Overweight and obese Americans</strong> before the holidays were more likely to gain <strong>5 lbs. or more during that 6 week period.</strong></span></li>
<li><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">The biggest two factors in weight gain were</span> lack of activity<span style="font-weight: normal;"> and </span>excess hunger. </strong></li>
<li><strong>The weight that is gained at that time of year is</strong><strong> <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">never lost</span> </span><span style="font-weight: normal;">.</span></strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">The excess hunger at this time of year is most likely due to the excess amount of refined sugar and carbohydrates that people consume throughout the season. The </span>more of them you eat, the more hungry you will be every few hours<span style="font-weight: normal;">. These foods immediately spike insulin &#8211; the fat-storing hormone that will keep them out of fat-burning mode for up to 48 hours. These substances also causes individuals to feel lethargic which could explain why many are less active, lounging, relaxing, and overeating the holidays away.</span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">So for each time that an individual consumes refined sugar and carbs, they will spend the next 24-48 hours in FAT-STORING mode. Doesn&#8217;t it make sense then that </span>daily consumption of sugar and carbs will result in some people actually spending every single day of the holiday season in FAT-STORING mode<span style="font-weight: normal;"> as opposed to </span>FAT-BURNING<span style="font-weight: normal;">. Ouch! </span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Worse than gaining all that weight is the fact that this study revealed that </span>the weight that is gained at that time of year is <span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">never lost</span> </span><span style="font-weight: normal;">so there is an accumulation of excess weight put on every year over the course of Americans&#8217; lifetimes that could lead to obesity due to that lack of weight loss after the holidays. </span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Think about it &#8211; where will you be 10 years from now if you gain 5 lbs. every Christmas? You&#8217;ll be 50 lbs. heavier. Isn&#8217;t it time to pay attention, do a little proactive weight gain prevention during the season and give yourself the gift of good health this year? </span></span></strong></p>

<p><strong>THE REALITY: </strong><br />
Two people can have the exact same height and weight, but very different percentages of body fat.  One could be in excellent health with a lean and impressive body…yet the other could be in poor health with a soft and flabby body.</p>
<p><strong>THE REALITY: </strong> As we age, we tend to gain fat around our organs (“visceral fat”) that <span style="text-decoration: underline;">can’t be detected</span> by measuring “skin folds” or even with a scale.</p>
<p><strong>THE REALITY:</strong> Your bathroom scale can’t tell the whole story either.   Some people may think they are overweight, when the amount of fat they have on their bodies is just fine, while others may carry this <span style="text-decoration: underline;">hidden fat</span> that the scale won’t tell them about.  Controlling excessive fat is not just a matter of appearance, it’s a huge health factor.</p>
<p><strong>Bad advice is everywhere.  Be on your guard.</strong></p>
<p>Too many diet plans, diet products, magazine articles and books focus solely on dropping pounds.  Our advice:  Forget about this obsession with trying to lower the number on the scale as fast as possible, and focus more on steadily eliminating excess fat from your body.</p>
<p>Your overall body weight is made up of various different components, such as body fat, muscle tissue, water and glycogen. The haphazard approach of simply aiming to “lose weight” is incredibly misguided as it does not take these specific types of body weight into account.</p>
<p>In order to achieve your goal of a lean, energetic and healthy body, focus on getting rid of the excessive amounts of “bad” body weight while maintaining as much “good” body weight as you can. Structure your “weight loss” approach in such a way that you aim to <span style="text-decoration: underline;">gradually </span>reduce your body fat levels while keeping your lean muscle tissue levels in tact. This is the ONLY realistic way to burn fat, keep it off over the long run, and achieve the kind of lean appearance that you strive for.</p>
<p><strong>Crash dieting is not just temporary…it’s a sure way for your body to store more fat over the long-term</strong></p>
<p>Those who simply place themselves on “crash diets” and attempt to drop large amounts of body weight over short periods of time are inevitably doomed to fail. Such an approach places the body into a starved state and actually programs you to store <strong>more fat</strong> over the long run. The body will react to severe calorie deficits by slowing down the metabolism in an attempt to conserve energy, wasting away lean muscle mass, and increasing the production of hormones that inhibit fat loss.  The end result is an unhealthy, out of shape body that, while being temporarily “lighter” than it was before, has now been programmed to store fat and will inevitably end up returning back to its original weight and more.</p>

<p>From 2006 to 2009 I gained over 30 pounds. I was shocked and disgusted when I saw a photo of myself from 4th of July weekend in 2006.</p>
<p>By July 2, 2009 I had gained over 30 pounds. I felt miserable and none of my clothes fit, my shape was distorted and out of proportion and I was always exhausted. After seeing that photo, I decided to take the Natural Trim 3X consistently twice daily and I decided I was never going to be fat again!</p>
