the early 2000&#8242;s by the <a href="http://www.nichd.nih.gov/news/releases/holidayweightgain.cfm" target="_blank">National Institutes of Health</a> that determined<br />
just that. They determined the following things about Americans:</span></span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: small;">The average American gained 1.8 lbs from <strong>Thanksgiving to New Year&#8217;s Day</strong>.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Overweight and obese Americans</strong> before the holidays were more likely to gain <strong>5 lbs. or more during that 6 week period.</strong></span></li>
<li><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">The biggest two factors in weight gain were</span> lack of activity<span style="font-weight: normal;"> and </span>excess hunger. </strong></li>
<li><strong>The weight that is gained at that time of year is</strong><strong> <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">never lost</span> </span><span style="font-weight: normal;">.</span></strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">The excess hunger at this time of year is most likely due to the excess amount of refined sugar and carbohydrates that people consume throughout the season. The </span>more of them you eat, the more hungry you will be every few hours<span style="font-weight: normal;">. These foods immediately spike insulin &#8211; the fat-storing hormone that will keep them out of fat-burning mode for up to 48 hours. These substances also causes individuals to feel lethargic which could explain why many are less active, lounging, relaxing, and overeating the holidays away.</span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">So for each time that an individual consumes refined sugar and carbs, they will spend the next 24-48 hours in FAT-STORING mode. Doesn&#8217;t it make sense then that </span>daily consumption of sugar and carbs will result in some people actually spending every single day of the holiday season in FAT-STORING mode<span style="font-weight: normal;"> as opposed to </span>FAT-BURNING<span style="font-weight: normal;">. Ouch! </span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Worse than gaining all that weight is the fact that this study revealed that </span>the weight that is gained at that time of year is <span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">never lost</span> </span><span style="font-weight: normal;">so there is an accumulation of excess weight put on every year over the course of Americans&#8217; lifetimes that could lead to obesity due to that lack of weight loss after the holidays. </span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Think about it &#8211; where will you be 10 years from now if you gain 5 lbs. every Christmas? You&#8217;ll be 50 lbs. heavier. You may be interested in joining a proven weight loss program with the right mix of education, supplements, and support.  When it comes to joining an effective weight loss program, you will find there are a number of different options &#8211; some good &#8211; many bad as I found out.</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">If this is your first time enrolling into a weight loss program, you may not be sure or even know as to what you should look for in a weight loss program.  If that is the case, HOLD ON&#8211;you will want to continue reading what I found out.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">One of the greatest ways for finding the perfect weight loss program is to ask a number of important questions and you answer them.  One of the first questions that you should ask yourself is how much time you have to devote to this weight loss program which may require some time and education.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">If you were to join a local weight loss support system, whether it is in a brick and mortar building or a support group who are doing it on their own, you would likely be required to attend either an online webinar or a weekly get together.  Whether you are busy with your family or at work, you may not have the additional time that is required to do so.  In that case, you should consider joining an online weight loss program with support, as many are often designed for those professionals and moms with busy and hectic schedules.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Another question that you will want to consider when looking to find the perfect weight loss program is your sheer willpower to make it happen.  If you decide that you should join an online program, you will be gaining more freedom, to physically report to meetings is nit a requirement and answer to group leaders that you do not know.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">While this freedom is cool and great to have, there is a downside. The freedom that you enjoy to not attend weekly meetings has allowed many hopeful people that are looking to lose weight to get off track with their program.  If you do not believe that you can stay with your online program goals and required instructions for weight loss, you may want to consider an alternative. Trust me on this one.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Another one of the many possible questions that you may want to ask when looking for a good weight loss program, is how much money is it going to cost you. This one is a biggie. While you can find free weight loss programs everywhere, both locally or online, it is actually when you get down to it, quite rare.  In your search, you will find that they have a wide range of membership fees that are included.  You probably will find that online programs are cheaper than locally operated weight loss programs or support systems.  If you are on a tight monthly budget, the cost of each program you run across should play a big role in making that decision.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">You should also ask yourself this question: Are you honestly embarrassed with your current weight today? And or you not feeling that good about your physical appearance? Although you really should  not have anything to be ashamed of, you may still feel that way.  If that is true, you may be a little hesitant of attending local weight loss meetings.  As always, you need to remember that everyone else that is attending those meetings are probably likely feeling the exact same way, but you don’t have to be in any kind of awkward situation.  If you are not happy with your appearance&#8211; as I was not, or may be concerned about what others may be thinking  of you, you may want to really consider joining an online weight loss program instead that has a great program and product to help accelerate the fat burning.</span></p>

<p>This is really a pet peeve with me. There are many programs out there that are simply scams and do not work. If you are looking at this, you need to be careful and so your due diligence.</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Have you ever considered an online weight loss program before or even looked at one? Online programs are designed to help people, possibly just like you and me, who want to lose weight and lose it bad. I have been there and you may be there now.  What is cool about online lose weight programs is that they are online and you can do I from the comfort of your own home and at your convenience, You gotta admit that is nice for those who have busy and hectic schedules with kids, family, church, school and; crazy schedules that may not allow them to be a part of locally operated programs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">If you have never joined an online program before for weight loss, you may be wondering if there is even a right one right for you.  You may have looked at many of them and fund nothing that made any sense. That happens a lot. You may even be wondering if an online program is worth putting any money into it.  I have some friends that have tried them, and In all honestly, it is  typical that online weight loss programs are worth every dime, but, to be real here&#8211; it all depends.  To make sure that your money is not wasted you will want to make sure that you choose the online program that suites you, fits your needs and goals, is perfect for you and your lifestyle.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">When looking at an online weight loss program, you will want to take a serious look at the features and bells and whistles that you will have access to and be a part of. Features are usually known as some kind of membership benefits for joining or membership rewards that come with it.  There are many different types of rewards online with these kind of sites. And they all have program features that you have access to that plays a large part in determining whether or not the online weight loss program that you want to join is worth the money. A few of the many online weight loss features or member perks that you will want access to are outlined below.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">One of the many features or membership benefits that would make an online weight loss program well worth the cost is that of healthy eating tips. As you likely already know, healthy eating is an important part of any weight loss plan.  Many online weight loss programs have healthy eating sections that include easy to make recipes for foods and drinks, as well as shopping tips and much more.  As previously stated, healthy eating is an important part of losing weight; therefore, you should look for an online weight loss program that does have a healthy eating or a healthy foods section.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Another feature that would make an online weight loss program more than worth the costs is that of an exercise program.  It has been said that exercise and healthy eating are the two most important components of losing weight.  You should be able to find an online weight loss program that has an exercise section for you to access.  This section may outline workouts that you should try, which may be accompanied by pictures, videos, or at least detailed directions. You may also find charts that outline how many calories are burned with common exercises, and much more.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">One feature that you may not necessarily think of, but one that is important, is that of an online message boards or a community section.  Community sections are often comprised of online message boards. These sections often allow you to communicate with other online weight loss program members or group leaders.  This communication is nice as it may help to give you motivation.  You may even find an online weight loss buddy or partner to help you on your journey.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">Guaranteed results or free trial periods are another sign that an online weight loss program may be worth the money. Often times, many individuals are unsure as to whether or not they should pay to join an online weight loss program, as they do not know for sure that they will lose weight. A large number of online weight loss programs give you the ability to test out their programs free of charge and then there are others that give you guaranteed results.  With guarantees like these, online weight loss programs are more then worth their costs. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">The above mentioned points are just a few of the many that may be able to help you decide whether or not joining an online weight loss program is worth the cost. If you are able to find an online weight loss program with a free trial period or even just one with affordable membership rates, you may want to think about giving it a shot.</span></p>

<p>If you’re trying to lose weight by counting calories, you may think you’re being smart by buying prepackaged diet meals from the supermarket or through a delivery service.</p>
<p><strong>Think again.</strong></p>
<h2>What price are you paying for convenience?</h2>
<p>Sure, there is a lot to be said about not having to fuss but are these foods actually bad for you? You need to read those labels and make sure that what you are putting into your body is actually healthy. Here are some warning signs:</p>
<p><strong>1. TOO MUCH SODIUM</strong></p>
<p>The average adult needs less than 2400 mg of sodium per day, but some prepackaged diet meals contain a whole day’s worth of sodium. Because these meals restrict a bunch of tasty ingredients (fat, for instance), they “give it more flavor” with… you guessed it… salt.   However, too much sodium leads to excess water retention, and has been blamed for high blood pressure and a host of other problems. The key is reading that label and seeing just how much sodium is in one serving.</p>
<p><strong>2. CHEMICALS TOO</strong></p>
<p>Prepackaged foods are typically loaded with different preservatives and some of them can be harmful, especially if you have a sensitity.<strong> </strong><a href="http://journalofhealthyliving.com/why-is-msg-bad-for-you.htm"><strong>MSG is probably the biggest offender</strong></a> and it has been blamed for everything from weight gain, to migraines and increased blood pressure.</p>
<p><strong>3.MORE TO WATCH OUT FOR</strong></p>
<p>Check the labels for other common names such as autolyzed yeast and disodium guaylonlate. This is a cheaper form of MSG, but it contains the same makeup. BHT is another common preservative and that can be found in a wide variety of prepackaged meals. In those that are sensitive to this additive, it may cause vertigo and other health issues. <strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>COMMON SENSE ADVICE FROM WeightLossReality.com. </strong></p>
<p>You’ve made the decision to do something great for your body – and that is, to lose weight.  Why not also feed your body fresh food?  Make it convenient for yourself.  Cut up and store a week’s worth of veggies in the fridge.  Then just steam them as needed.  Cook up a large amount of brown rice and microwave a scoop when you need it.  Broil chicken breasts or lean beef patties.  Keep lots of fresh fruit handy.  Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming.   And just think how much better you’ll look and feel!</p>

<p><strong>Plain and simple:  A weight loss program that doesn’t require you to make changes in your lifestyle is a fad diet!</strong></p>
<p>Permanent weight-loss requires making new decisions.  Remember the old adage – “The definition of madness is doing things in the same old way and expecting different results.”  Any program that tells you can lose weight without eating less or doing moderate exercise is just trying to sell you something. You don&#8217;t need to buy special foods, omit food groups, join a support group or buy magnets in order to lose weight.</p>
<p>If it sounds too good to be true (you know the rest)…You can&#8217;t expect the calories to melt off of your body. If the product or expert makes overblown promises, run!</p>
<p>Remember, there is no quick fix for long-term weight loss (that’s just the fact!) Any weight loss program that makes outrageous claims is a fad diet.  If they say that you can lose 20 pounds in 10 days, obviously, you’re not being told the truth.  And worst of all, you could be negatively impacting your health by going to unproven, extreme measures.</p>
<p>Look at the cost of the diet plan. A program that requires you to buy expensive special diet foods or special equipment is a fad diet.   Prepared meals may take the guesswork out of it for you, but they are often dull, contain more sodium and don&#8217;t contain any fresh foods.</p>
<p>Eat all 5 food groups, just like your nutrition teacher told you.  Any weight loss program that requires you to omit food groups, like carbs, is a fad diet. A <a href="http://www.ehow.com/how_2129871_detect-fad-diet-scam.html" target="_blank">healthy diet</a> consists of high-quality carbs, fruits and vegetables and lean proteins. For a lifestyle plan to work you should be able to eat everything in moderation.</p>
<p>Think of the people you know who maintain their weight year after year.  What are they doing that’s different from what you’re doing?  Chances are they’re eating in moderation (even splurging here and there), getting physical exercise (even a brisk walk in the park) and never turn to false promises as a way to keep slim.</p>
